2020: Week 45

November 2, 2020 – November 8, 2020

Bucket List Items Accomplished

  • Send someone a thoughtful care package. My boyfriend’s Mom and I put together a package of some things for my boyfriend who is living in Japan. I included some instant pumpkin spice latte packs since we love PSL, and Japan doesn’t really do pumpkin spice flavour in Autumn. The package also included some other Canadian snacks and a couple other little things.
  • Eat ackee and saltfish. I had a delicious Jamaican patty filled with this from the Caribbean Village Cafe. I wanted to get the full dish, but they were sold out for the day. I got the patty and some delicious jerk chicken instead.

Things I Enjoyed this Week

  • I’m still trying to exercise a few days a week at least. I did aerial silks, juggling, yoga, and hoop/trapeze classes this week and went on a few long walks. We are deep into fall now with lots of fallen leaves, mornings beginning to get frosty, and the return of chilly rain. I will do my best to keep up with exercise through the cold part of the year to preserve my sanity as best I can.

  • I want to continue posting the new words I find in the wild from books or podcasts.
    1. Agonist – someone engaged in a conflict or inner turmoil
    2. Anemious – growing in windswept conditions

  • I watched no Oscar Best Picture Winners.

  • I taught myself the following new constellations this week.
    • Cassiopeia – the W shaped constellation I will never forget. Where I live, and elsewhere above 34°N, Cassopeia is visible year round. It also contains some of the brightest stars. Cassiopeia was a vain queen, wife of Cepheus, and mother of Andromeda. She boasted much of her own beauty and her daughter’s. She was punished by being cast into the sky to twirl about the north celestial pole, clinging to her throne.
    • Cetus – the whale or the sea monster slain by Heracles / Perseus. Cetus is the root of the word cetacean or whale. There are a bunch of water related constellations in this area of the sky.
