Things I Enjoyed this Week

  • My ongoing gratitude and photo project continues below. I was back on track this week and took photos everyday.

Day 58: I am grateful for unique views.

Day 59: I am grateful for gentle waves.

Day 60: I am grateful for stone steps.

Day 61: I am grateful for sunbeams.

Day 62: I am grateful for ducklings

Day 63: I am grateful for a hop skip and a jump across a creek. This was along Colquitz Creek Park.

Day 64: I am grateful for the eddies of the tide. Joan Point Park has a well situated view between the islands to this cool narrow spot where the tide swirls.

  • I watched Kramer Vs. Kramer as an Oscar Best Picture Winner. It was annoyingly realistic in too many ways.

  • I learned no new constellations.

  • I enjoy learning new words as I come across them in the wild. Here are some that I came across recently while reading or listening to podcasts.
    • Rubicon – a limiting or bounding line that when crossed commits a person to something irrevocably.
    • Callow – inexperienced, immature, unfledged

If you have good habits, time becomes your ally. All you need is patience.

Meal Prep and New Recipes Tried

  • I made One Pot Enchilada Orzo from Creme De La Crumb. I made my own enchilada sauce to use rather than buying a jar and didn’t use any cheese. It was absolutely delicious, with warming spices and great enchilada flavour. I followed Cookie and Kate’s recipe for the homemade enchilada sauce.
  • I made a loaf of Honey Oatmeal Bread from All Recipes. My yeast was a bit pitiful, so it took forever to rise. It turned out really cute though and was so soft and sweet.

Updates

  • I crossed just two things off of my bucket list in May.
    1. Cross the Goldstream Trestle
    2. Send a message in a bottle

  • In the month of May I read and listened to seven books. I listened to audiobooks for four of them and read three. Here’s what I finished reading this month. I have been on a huge magic and fantasy kick lately.
    • The Secret Commonwealth
    • The Amulet of Samarkand
    • The Secret Life of Witches
    • The Golem and the Jinni
    • The Night Circus
    • The Magicians
    • Never Let Me Go
